The ______ that is Zain

January 28, 2008

I can’t choose a good word to put in the blank (and there are MANY), so I will allow the readers to choose for me.

-If your phone gets disconnected and you are in the middle of nowehere, then you are doomed. Because you can’t even call CUSTOMER CARE and pay your bill using a credit card.

-Ok. You’re in the middle of nowhere and you have a computer with internet access, YAY! BUT you can’t get on the website and pay, because it DOES NOT LET YOU LOG IN. I get an invalid username and password 80% of the time. And when I call them they say “ta7deeth”. Kil hatha ta7deeth? Kil youm oo tark ta7deeth? Lama 7adathtaw your loser logo and company name, laish ma 7adathtaw the website before launching it??

-Ok ok. Mabi Customer Care. Mabi Adesh bil account. I’ll just use the Quick Pay option, cuz as its name suggests, it’s quick. Right? Right? NO. WRONG. Because my phone number is INVALID. What?! And even if it works, most likely the transaction will get cancelle, and you have to run after them to get your money back.

-Maykhalif. I’ll just stop whatever it is I’m doing, and find an MTC Zain Shain branch and pay. But it’s 3 pm and branches are all closed except the airport one ily ib akhir il dinya. Or find a jam3eya and use the paying machine. Which means stop at a bank, withdraw cash, and then go to the jam3eya and pay.

Mo lazim. Mabi telfon!

الحملة الوطنية الكويتية لإيقاف حجاب بو تفخة

January 17, 2008

n7186795434_2752.jpgLaih mita?! Seriously what is wrong with all these people? This subject was all over the blogs once, then facebook groups, forwards and even websites devoted to this subject. Cartoons are all over the place ridiculing the people who wear it. Don’t you think it went too far? For all of those preaching freedom of speech, what about freedom to wear what you want?!

– They say: She is met7ajba, she has to respect the 7jab she wore, etc.
– I’ll say: Didn’t it occur to you that she was forced to wear that 7jab when she was 7 years old? How can you respect something you do not agree with?

– They say: 7ARAM she wears something that reveal her body!
– I’ll say: What about the girls whose asses and camel toes are sticking out of the Juicy pants? That is also 7aram, whether she is met7ajba or not.

– They say: Freedom of Speech! I can say whatever I want!
– I’ll say: Of course. You have a right to hate it. You can express your hate. But I think you’re taking it a tad too far. Besides, she has the freedom to wear what she wants.

– They say: It is HAILIGY!
– I’ll say: No one appointed you as the Fashion Police. To each his own.

I am not defending the 7jab bou tafkha. I also wonder what they have inside it (which was funny at first). I don’t like the way it looks. I think it’s inappropriate for a met7ajba to wear leggings. I am entitled to my opinion, and I can express it whenever I want, but out of respect I’m not going to go around campaigning it, or calling them Halaga, or the like! I would not like people ridiculing me or calling me names (which is against Islamic btw). I wear whatever I want, and people should respect my choices, just like i respect theirs regardless of what I think of it.

Why don’t people mind their own businesses?

Picture from the facebook group the post is named after.

Wataniya, Na3am?

January 16, 2008

images.jpgThere is this annoying service which Wataniya users have- you send an SMS and you request a reply. Three different people sent me messages requesting replies. Shtaboon? I’ll reply in my own good time! Shal 7anna el zayda!

And while I’m at it, has anyone noticed the new voice that talks when you call an MTC line that is on a call? As if the first one wasn’t annoying enough. They should let it ring with just the word “Waiting” like Wataniya. And why don’t they have the delivery report option? Idiots. Yes, I’ll keep referring to it as MTC until I see Zain on my phone.

WTF IS THAT!?

January 15, 2008

Unicef commercial against war.
Designed as a UNICEF advertisement, and with the approval of the family of the Smurfs’ late creator Peyo, the 25-second episode was shown on the national evening news after the 9pm timeslot to avoid children seeing it. The scene starts with happy peaceful Smurfs and butterflies, who are then bombed by warplanes, ending with a lone Baby Smurf surrounded by dead Smurfs. The final frame bears the message: “Don’t let war affect the lives of children.

WHAT? So it’s OK to terrorize the adults, but not the children? WE’RE the ones who grew up watching them!

I’m traumatized! :S :/ :O

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ;(

Be careful of these websites

January 11, 2008

It seems like every other day a new Kuwaiti shopping website is popping out. I was browsing through fashionaddicts.net when I came across this:

stam.jpg

They even had pictures of celebs carrying that handbag. But fashionaddicts.net forgot to mention that this is a knockoff of a Marc Jacobs handbag (shown below) that is sold at eluxury for $1,350. I’m sure the celebrities wouldn’t be caught dead carrying a $150 knockoff.

By the way, Fashion Addicts, it’s fraction not friction.

Please be careful when shopping from these kind of websites. Zahra from Kuwait-Style wrote a post on these sites a while back.
